The year is 763 AD of the Gregorian calendar. You walk in the shoes of Jivaka, a veteran courtesan of the Peony Paradise inn. Having travelled across the Silk Road and settled in Chang'an's Northern Hamlet for many years, your life changes after An Lushan's catastrophic rebellion critically weakens the ruling Tang Dynasty.Now, you receive fearful gossip from your patrons as well as your fellow courtesans and the inn's Madam, that China's greatest rival, the Buddhist empire of Tibet, is preparing an invasion of the Tang capital itself. You must flee the looming shadow of war, escape the wrath of the Tibetan Emperor Trisong Detsan, and seek fortune and love elsewhere.
The question is - who will you take?
As Jivaka, you have the choice of building a more peaceful, happier life along the silk routes with one of three soul mates. Who will it be: your fiercely loyal handmaiden Hua? Seg Gephel, the handsome Tibetan soldier who warns you of his ruler's impending attack? Or Al-Aziz, the travelling writer from Damascus haunted by a personal tragedy? Each character will take you on a different journey across soundscapes and scenic worlds of the romantic Silk Road of 763 AD. This is a world of Indian monks, Turkic tribesmen, Persian merchants, Chinese officials, mysterious bodhisattvas, and other souls of spice. Trisong Detsan's black-armoured horsemen thunder across Eurasia and bear down on the weakened Tang capital. Bonds of love, affection and friendship flourish amidst the bittersweet climes of scorching sand and blistering snow.
